A large sinkhole has opened up near Sayre, Okla., and people in the region are wondering if it's related to a string of small earthquakes shaking the region. The hole opened up a couple of days after one of the earthquakes about two weeks ago, the property caretaker told NBC station KFOR."Kind of spooky. You don't want to mess with it today," Jack Damron told KFOR.

REPORTING FROM JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA -- The last 15 years have been the hottest on record and included all 10 of the warmest years, the U.N.'s World Meteorological Organization announced Tuesday as 20,000 delegates from more than 190 countries met in South Africa to try to hash out a way forward to halt climate change. This year so far has tied as the 10th-hottest year since records began in 1850, and is the warmest year while the La Nina phenomenon was present, a period when ocean temperatures are cooler, according to the organization's annual report on the global climate ...read more...

new activities began South of El Hierro( Canary Island in the recent days after the sub sea volcano was obvioulsy rather quiet for over one week. Lots of smoking tuff lava pieces drift on the sea a long a line parallel to the coast, spit out from an open gap below. This volcanic material/ stone swims on water as it has gas inclusions, untypical for hot spot volcanoes. Below Hierro- as spanish volcanologists meanwhile assume- there are two volcano systems combined. one magmatic chamber, containing these types of magma and the hot spot volcano that leads deep into the Earth.. video by: (youtubechannel)

Based on analyses of satellite imagery, the Darwin VAAC reported that during 27-28 November ash plumes from Dukono rose to an altitude of 2.1 km (7,000 ft) a.s.l. and drifted 65-110 km NW.
STATUS ( comparred to yesterday) EL HIERRO/v CANARY ISLANDS/SPAIN   since July 2011 YELLOW IGN (Spain) emergencias (Cabildo El Hierro

Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN) reported that during 23-29 November the submarine eruption continued S of El Hierro Island. During this period, the mean amplitude of the tremor showed a slight increase. On 26 November large steaming fragments of lava appeared intermittently floating over the emission center. On 27 November, the emissions were more intense and a few hundred fragments could be observed floating simultaneously, with mean dimensions between 0.5 and 2 m. Some samples of the fragments were collected from a ship near the emission area.

During the period, 121 seismic events were located, most of them offshore to the N of the island at depths of 15-23 km and a maximum magnitude of 3.3. Seven of these events were felt by residents at a maximum intensity value of III using EMS-98 (European Macroseismic Scale). GPS data analyses trended towards stability in the horizontal components, while in the vertical component most of the stations showed subsidence while stations in the NE of the island also trended towards stability.

TODAY s EVENTS TUNGURAHUA 1°28'1"S/ 78°26'30"W 2011-11-27         volcano discovery.com
TUNGURAHUA/ ECUADOR

IG reported that increased seismicity from Tungurahua was detected at 1540 on 27 November, and at 1650 the seismic network recorded four volcano-tectonic earthquakes. Two small explosions at 1701 and 1705 were followed by a large explosion at 1718. Pyroclastic flows descended the Achupashal, Chotanpamba, and Mandur drainages on the NW and W flanks. Two more large explosions were detected at 1731 and 1735. Incandescent blocks traveled 1 km down the flanks, and roaring noises and sounds resembling "cannon shots" were reported. Ashfall was reported in Manzano (8 km SW), Bilbao (8 km W), and Pillate (8 km W), ash and tephra fell in Cotaló (8 km NW), and tephra fell in Cusúa (8 km NW). At 1905 a pyroclastic flow descended the S and SW flanks.

At 0200 on 28 November an explosion ejected incandescent material that fell on all flanks, and generated a pyroclastic flow that descended the Achupashal drainage. Starting before 0500 until 0900 an almost constant roar was heard and incandescent blocks traveled 1 km down the flanks, especially towards the W and NW. Three pyroclastic flows were noted on the S flank. Windows vibrated at the Tungurahua Observatory (OVT) in Guadalupe (14 km N). During the day, an ash plume rose 3 km above the crater and drifted in multiple directions. White ashfall was reported in Manzano, Choglontús (SW), Pondoa (8 km N), and Runtún (6 km NNE). In the evening incandescent blocks that were ejected 300 m above the crater rolled 400-500 m down the flanks. On 29 November an explosion detected at 0611 produced a small pyroclastic flow that traveled 500 m. Another pyroclastic flow at 0955 traveled 1 km W. Gas-and-ash plumes rose 4 km above the crater and drifted SE and W. According to a news article, people in high risk areas on the flanks, in communities such as Cusúa, Juive, Palictahua, and Manzano, evacuated voluntarily.

(newsinenglish_2011126)- Wind and waves clobber the coast:

The “extreme weather system” known as “Berit” hit Norway’s northwest coast hard on Friday and through the night into Saturday morning, moving north from Hordaland and Møre og Romsdal up to Lofoten and beyond. Waves as high as 30 meters, hurricane-force winds and record-high tides generated plenty of drama but no casualties.Meteorologists opted for the “extreme weather” description instead of just a “storm,” because of the various aspects of “Berit,” which had been forecast since mid-week. Many linked the lack of injuries and casualties to the forecasts that allowed many to take precautions in advance.

TODAY s EVENTS GALERAS ( Columbia) 1°13'0"N/ 77°22'0"W 2011-11-26 II (Orange) INGEOMINAS     volcano discovery.com

INGEOMINAS reported that during 15-22 November steam from Galeras rose from the main crater, two craters to the N and SW (Paisita and Chavas, respectively), and a crack on the N flank of the active cone. Seismicity was at low levels, although some earthquakes were characterized as "tornillo-type." During 23-24 November the seismic network detected an emerging seismic pattern of "tornillo-type" earthquakes similar to patterns detected prior to past eruptions. Gas emissions also decreased. INGEOMINAS raised the Alert Level to II (Orange; "probable eruption in term of days or weeks") on 24 November.

CHEVRON OIL LEAK/ BRASIL. the latest news say, the problem at Chevorn`s borehole is -as believed due to a failure in cementing . larger than expected. As tzjhe company declared yesterday it ( similar as BP tried in Feb 2010 before an overpressure tore all apart) os trying to seal the leaks arpund the annulus of their borehole with cement and other materials...

During the congress investigations to the Deepwater Horizon incident 2010 the CHEVRON Oil company has always insured, such an incident could not happen at one of their projects. And now- while other smaller companies drilling at the same oil field have no reported problems , the world s largestand richest oil company seems not to be able to dril hiole in a required mannerm trying to safe money at best profits or whatever! The Brasilian oil acdministration had found out,. that Chevron had drilled there 500 meters deeper than permitted. The executing company dirlling that hole is again TRANASOCEAN, the former owner of the Deepwater Horizon. Russia has given CHEVRON exclusive rights to exploit the recently discovered huge oil reservoirs in the Russia Arctic Sea. As the company seems -same as BP- not to be repönsible enough at least to use appropriate equippment, pipes strong enough to withstand eventially pressure rises or downhole safety valves. people should protest against that decision at the Russian government. Rockefella and co`s private governments in Europe as well as the EU itself does not seem to see it as necessary to find common regulations on technicalö standards at oil dril.ing in the arctic sea.

ONE EARTH DIRECTED CME WAS ONSERVED TODAY/ INTERNAL CME EVENT NR.:50a/ 50 b

a large filament eruption was observed Nov- 22 beginning after midnight(1) increased soon to a long and wide CME after 5: 00 UTC (2) on the Northern Sun hemisphere .near to AR n 11355 and 11356. The filament eruption continued all day long and was associated with activities in the complex AR 11356, that just has rotated into view with three large sun spots- currently the largest spots visible on the Sun disc.

AR 11356 produced then a minor CME after 6:20 UTC

From the two two major CME observed this long lasting event, the second minor one is pretty much Earth directed.

Stormpulse.com/ 20111122): For the North Atlantic, Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

1. Showers and thunderstorms have become less organized during the past few hours in association with an area of low pressure located about 900 miles east of Bermuda. This low, which continues to produce gale-force winds, still has some frontal characteristics and subtropical development appears a little less likely. This system has a medium chance, 50 percent, of becoming a subtropical cyclone during the next 48 hours as it moves northeastward at 10 to 15 mph. Additional information on this low can be found in high seas forecasts issued by the National Weather Service, under AWIPS header nfdhsfat1 and WMO header fznt01 kwbc.

Elsewhere, tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the next 48 hours.

Subtropical Storm Tammy may be brewing in Central Atlantic

.. The 2012 Atlantic hurricane season may be gearing up for one last encore performance. The National Hurricane Center designated system 99L in the Central Atlantic on Sunday, 550 miles northeast of the Leeward Islands, and said it had a medium chance of becoming Tropical Storm Tammy — or Subtropical Storm Tammy — as it drifts toward the north. If it does become Tammy, the 2011 season will match last year’s total of 19 named storms for the third-busiest hurricane season on record. That also happened two other years: 1887 and 1995. ...read more...

Climate change means more frequent droughts and floods, U.N. panel says in report

Climate change will make drought and flooding events like those that have battered the United States and other countries in 2011 more frequent, forcing nations to rethink the way they cope with disasters, according to a new report the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change issued Friday. The report — the culmination of a two-year process involving 100 scientists and policy experts — suggests that researchers are far more confident about the prospect of more intense heat waves and heavy downpours than they are about how global warming is affecting hurricanes and tornadoes. But the new analysis also speaks to a broader trend: The world is facing a new reality of more extreme weather, and policymakers and business alike are beginning to adjust... read more...

CHEVRON CAUSES OIL SPILL OFF THE COAST OF BRASIL>

LAST UPDATE: Due to ARD Television / Germany: parellels to the BP accident in 2010 ? CHEVRON has meanwhile declared, to have" underestimated" the pressure of the oils well offshore Brazil , that company was going to drill in. We remember: uissia has given exclusive permissions top Chevron this year to exploit the huge oil reservoirs in the Russian Arctic Sea. Not only that president Medjedew and Vladimir Pition here supports one of the greatest global players in capitalism . To get again under control any incident like that could become a technical impossible task in the Arctic Sea !(alien-homepage.de)

(Mercopress- 20111114) Chevron halts drilling off the coast of Brazil following an oil-spill Oil giant Chevron halted drilling of a well off the coast of Brazil as it looks into the possible causes of an oil spill in the region. Chevron said in a statement e-mailed that an oil sheen had appeared on the surface of the ocean near the Frade project it operates, which it attributed to oil seeps in the area.Chevron said the total amount of oil released was between 400 barrels and 650 barrels. The project is located 370 kilometres offshore northeast of Rio de Janeiro in water depths of approximately 1.200 metres.A sub-sea vehicle deployed by Chevron found the source of a seep, where hydrocarbons naturally escape from underground. Investigations into the sheen's causes were continuing, Chevron said....read more...

INTERNAL CME- EVENT NR: 48a/48b filament South Eastern Quadrant   NOV- 17- 15: 35 UTC     due to solen. info the filament eruption was observed in the southwestern quadrant starting at 15:35 UTC in AIA 193 images. The associated CME does not appear to have any Earth directed component. NOV- 20

SATELLITE IMAGES AND DATA/ CME AND FLARE ACTIVITIES TODAY ( if not- other images) :

INTERNAL CME- EVENT NR: 48a/ 48b

Several eruptions were observed on Nov- 17 on several region on the sun surface, partially along the Northern filament and in AR 11346. The long lasting complex event .peaked in two likely partial Earth directed CMEs

Both STEREO had a data gap beginning on Nov- 17 after 17:10... STEREO BEHIND delivered the first imagee after the eruption on Nov- 18 at 1: 25 UTC showing a significant large CME heading into Earth direction (1)

(1) 20111118/ 1: 25 UTC (2) 20111117/ 08:10 UTC (3) 20111117/ 16:20 UTC 20111117/ 21:30 20111118/ 4:18 UTC Today`s GOEShp Magnetometer plot - GEOMAGNETIC FIELD

(2) SDO shows several minor eruptions on the Northern hemisphere between Nov 17 and 18,But its transmission also was knocked out soon after a CME major eruption began on Oct- 17 after 08:10 UTC form a major flare in AR on the South East quadrant This allows at least to locate the source of the strong CME. The first event was succeded by another CME after 16: 10 UTC. AR continued to be active and likely ejected another CMEon Nov- 18- after 16:00 UTC.

SoHO could make the best images of the complex event and could observe the first CME on Nov- 17 after 21:30 (4) and a second on NOV- 18 after 4: 18.(5).Together they formed a partial halo CME.

Congo's Nyamuragira volcano eruption biggest for a century - video

POPOCATEPETLDuring 16-20 November CENAPRED reported steam-and-gas emissions from Popocatépetl. A series of emissions was detected on 18 November; clouds prevented ground observations and no ashfall was reported. Based on information from the Mexico City MWO however, the Washington VAAC reported that an ash plume rose to an altitude of 7.6 km (25,000 ft) a.s.l. and drifted SW that same day. Satellite imagery showed another ash plume drifting E at an approximate altitude of 9.1 km (30,000 ft) a.s.l. CENAPRED noted that at 1201 on 20 November an explosion produced an ash plume that rose approximately 2 km above the crater and drifted N. The explosion was heard in Amecameca (19 km NW). Steam-and-gas plumes rose from the crater during 21-22 November.

ETNA / Sicil/ Italy:

A new eruptive episode is in progress at the New SE crater of Etna today. Starting this morning, tremor has been rising steeply and at the time of writing, the first strombolian explosions, or even small lava fountains, and perhaps already a small lava flow can be seen emerging from the SE-trending fissure cutting through the cone All signs point towards that this is going to be the long-awaited 18th paroxysm of the New SE crater in 2011, following the previous one on 23 Oct after 23 days, the longest-so-far interval since July.

Sezione di Catania - Osservatorio Etneo reported that the eighteenth paroxysmal eruptive episode of 2011 took place at the New SE Crater (New SEC) of Etna during the morning of 15 November.

DISASTERS EARTHQUAKE activity in Central USA raises concerns on DAM stability

PRAGUE, Okla. -- Governor Mary falin declared a state of emergency Wednesday as Oklahoma copes with a rare earthquake swarm, November tornadoes and even flooding. The declaration includes 20 counties across the southern portion of the state.Since Saturday, Oklahoma has experienced four big quakes; the strongest one registering a 5.6 magnitude. The recent earthquake swarm is now prompting concerns over the stability of a dam in Lincoln County.   ...read more...

PHILLIPSBURG II

SHUTDOWN IN NUCLEAR POWER STATION

The nuclear Power plant Phillipsburg II in Germany reported a quick shutdown on NOV- 12 after a leak in the secondary water cycle of the pressure water reactor. (block I in Phillipsburg- a boiling warter reactor type was 2011 taken out of service after the Fukushima incident). The leak was in the turbine hall where the electricity is produced. As EnBW- the operator of the plant explained, the valve cannot be repaired while the reactor is running due to high steam temperature and pressure. The nuclear plant is Phillipsburg stands more and more in public criticism , as expecially those leakages occure quite often there and with a rising tendency .

Old reactors are oftenly " tuned" The tuning with so called " low pressure after turbines" those use the remaining steam that emits from the main turbines to produce more electricvity. These low pressure turbines lead in boiling water reactors to a slightly higher pressure within the reactor core, reducing the critical mass, what leads to overreactivities. But, as Phillipsburg II is not a boiling water type, this pressure only would effect within the secondary water cycle, which in pressurized water reactors is seperated from the reactor`s primary water cycle and the heat energy between both water cycles is transfered through a heat exchanger. So the main possible reasons of overpressure is the increasing use of Plutonium 239 as an incredient to the reactors Uranium fuel in so called MOX elements. When Plutonium was first mixed into the reactor fuel in the eightees of the 20th century , the content was first low and around 1 % ( additional to the regularly 3-5 enrichment with Uranium 235). But the percentage of PU 230 was raised with the years ( more even with the SALT treaty to reduce nuclear weapons ) Today most light water reactors use MOX elements (produced by Framatom in France) with an enrichment of 3-5 % Uranium 235 and additional 4 and 6 % Plutonium 239. As several universities have researched , this PU 230 content is responsible for the many "perfomance excursions" those occure in thermal reactors during the last decades. Each such excursion could lead to a situation critical for a meltdown situation if any of the regulating machanisms would fail, such as by an electric outage The PU content in these MOX fuel has also contributed much to the course of the Fukushima disaster.

Plutonium is not fissionable by low energy Neutrons as used in thermal reactors but fissions just spontanously by high energetic neutrons primarly emmited with the ongoing fission . This makes Plutonium so incalculable

Due to the German laws which require low restrictions on operators to report those incidents , such a public report is rather rare and indicates that there was maybe not a dangerous but at least a serious incident. The nuclear power plant remains a shutdown. Electric supply is not endangered at alls says the operator

SATELLITE IMAGES AND DATA/ CME AND FLARE ACTIVITIES TODAY ( if not- other images) :

no significant Earth directed flares or CME events were observed today until the time of this update

a minor eruption was observed on NOV- 12 after 19:00 UTC. On SoHO (1) the CME was ejected into South Eastern direction. Nevertheless it appeared as fully halo on STEREO AHEAD (2) . The x ray burst soon interrupted radio transmission, and STEREO has a data gap until NOV- 13/ 3:24 UTC.The only significant activity visible on SDO was a short flash of that CME after 12: 57 from AR 112341 and some tiny flashes in the South Eastern quadrant
