JULY 10 2016/ -- UTC
ALERT! FURTHERON HIGH PROBABILITY OF MAJOR SUBDUCTION QUAKES!!

important notices >

20160504: I am very busy at the moment, Updates may therefore be delayed!

According to NASA, this 24th. 11 year sun spot cycle has probably a " twin peak"- the second in 2015. This project therefore will be prolongued.

THE 11 YEAR SUN SPOT CYCLE-

- activities and major events-

ARCHIVE- SEPTEMBER 2016

note: as the solar sun spot activity is decreasing now, less major events are expected at least in the next years. (next cycle minimum expected in 2019)

.Therefor, this project is also limited now to basic updates. In July 2014 I decided to update this page only after significant event and changes and to turn this page into an monthly page that will cover significant events and can be archived then in that form.

for basic informations about this project scroll down to the bottom of this page!

SOLAR ACTIVITY IN 2016:

<< x ray activity >> ( resp. the so called "x- ray background flux") which represents the highest but at all also only a small part of the spectrum of electromagnetic waves emitted by the Sun  dropped- as expected-constantly after the solar sun spot maximum in 2012 and was in the second half of 2016 almost constantly on the B-level.

A comparation with the x ray flux on the same day (< August 28 2016 ) 11 years ago ( 20050828 > ) shows that x- ray background flux during the same period in the last solar cycle 2005 was also mainly around the lower B level and so far not much higher than now.

Differently to 2016, in 2005, there were more fluctuations in x-ray flux and at all more periods with higher xray flux (caused by solar flares). what indicates, there were still more sunspots and active regions on the Sun in 2005. >>

Solar surface activity: In 2016, we had just a few stronger flares (never exceeding C level. The solar surface was/ is mainly characterised by large coronal holes with mainly constantly and still ongoing stronger filament eruptions mainly along their edges, where denser solar matter ( maybe produced during the last flare and proton events) is pushed outward by accumulating pressure in the higher energetic layers below. CMEs from these filament eruptions when reaching the earth regularly caused geomagnetic stormings throughout 2016 (see: NOAA alerts)

I cannot say, whether the fluctuations and sometimes high integral electron flux/ accumulation in the geomagnetic field as still observed in 2016 has to do with CMEs from these filament eruptions. I rather suggest, these electrons are still accumulations those began to circle after the stronger proton events until 2015 ( with protons speeds near the speed of light!!) on wider polar orbits from where they even needed years to approach the earth so far, that they get in friction first with the atmosphere and become effective.

Jeff Master / wunderground blog/ 20160901: Intensifying Tropical Storm Hermine Beginning to Close Off an Eye

Next in Hawaii’s unusual hurricane lineup is Hurricane Lester, located about 750 miles east of Hilo as of the 11 am EDT advisory from CPHC. A Hurricane Watch has been issued for Hawaii’s Big Island, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, and Kahoolawe. Although Lester retains a distinct eye in infrared satellite imagery, its top sustained winds were down to 105 mph, making it a Category 2 storm. Wind shear along Lester’s path remains quite low at 5-10 knots, but dry air at mid-levels of the atmosphere (relative humidities only around 35-40%) is feeding into Lester’s shield of thunderstorms, which has become less intense in satellite imagery. Also, Lester is passing over a corridor of waters churned up by Madeline, which may have pushed SSTs below the 26°C benchmark for tropical development, as suggested in daily SST mapping. The SHIPS model predicts SSTs in the 26-27°C range for the next several days, with little change in wind shear or relative humidity, so Lester may weaken only gradually....read more..

LATEST MAJOR EARTHQUAKES

20160903 (internal) Global increase of earthquake activities.

The strong quake in Italy caused by a subduction process- a  slow sinking of the apennin mountains back into the earth mantle- was just the prelude of what I expected since begin of this year.

Since less after 2012 and since 2015 no new major proton events occured, also the related electron activity slowly began to decrease. Same time, the strong magma intrusion activity at hotspots worldwide observed in the past years calmed down significantly from Hawaii to Etna, near the ASU, the Taupa caldera as well as in the Yellowstone caldera. b´geyir activity there is back to low and normal.

The discharge of the accumulated electrons took much longer than expected , (what seems logical due to the many and part extreme strong proton events that took place and impacted in the geomag field over the past years) and happenend rather slowly and witin long fluctuations. There is a certain point when the effect of magmatic intrusion will turn into the opposite: the sinking of tectonic plates elsewhere (form of subduction)

Los Angeles Times/ 20160930: Risk of big earthquake on San Andreas fault rises after quake swarm at Salton Sea

The rumbling started Monday morning deep under the Salton Sea. A rapid succession of small earthquakes — three measuring above magnitude 4.0 — began rupturing near Bombay Beach, continuing for more than 24 hours. Before the swarm started to fade, more than 200 earthquakes had been recorded...The San Andreas fault’s southernmost stretch has not ruptured since about 1680 — more than 330 years ago, scientists estimate. And a big earthquake happens on average in this area once every 150 or 200 years, so experts think the region is long overdue for a major quake....read more...

earthquake report/ 20160903: Strong earthquake near Pawnee, Oklahoma, USA

The strong, serious earthquake was felt in seven states and several aftershocks have been recorded. At least one building sustained damage to an exterior wall. The area is barricaded and Sewell says a building inspector will take a look before people are allowed back inside. A barn fire was also reported north of town, but the mayor says that was electrical in nature and it's not clear if the earthquake was responsible. One person was briefly hospitalized after sustaining injuries from a chimney collapse. Sheriff Mike Walters says the person was treated at the hospital and release

So it is not easy to predict what would indicate a significant cooling down of the expanded and heated tectonic plates with subduction processes setting in in all affected regions (see register panel below) . The recent activity however suggests that this process wins in dynamic and stronger quakes should be expected in the next month and year. The region most affected by the ( circumoplar) proton impacts between 2011 an 2014 was the western US Coast where the cooling down therefor will set in latest and the quakes might be strongest. we had some events there in the past days, that reach northern to the edges of the Yellowstone caldera

this section also refers to quake activities those typically occure since 2011 in a radius of 100- 200 km around the eifel volcano field, while the region in between stays rather calm. This typically indicates the possibiltiy of hot magma with in the area in between that radius where NO Seimic quakes occure .- Hot magma makes no seismic effects but causes tensions and seismic quakes just on its bondaries where it meets with colder rock formations. There are also regular microquakes along the river Rhine, thos are not respected here.

LATEST RELATED CME(SEP IMPACT 20140107/20140218-20/ 20140225 01- 04/ 14

EXPLANATIONS>

Green backcolored fields marks those regions where geomagnetic field density values during the CME impact was below 100 nT.

Yellow backcolored fields mark the regions with values above 100 nT./

Red backcolored field mark the regions , those were hit relatively strongest ( peak values) by the latest SEP/ CME . Colors from orange to light red mark GRADUAL IMPACTS OF MULTIPLE CMEs CLUSTERS.

HOW TO READ THIS FORECAST>

INCREASES IN VOLCANIC ACTIVITIES will - if- most probably occure - SOON AFTER CME impact- within the RED colored regions and between the red and yellow regions!

STORMS, ICE MELTINGS AN FLOODINGS might- if- then most probably occureSOON AFTER CME impacts-within the RED COLORED REGIONS

The relatively strongest EARTHQUAKE ACTIVITIES WILL MOST PROBABLY occure AFTER a LATENCY period due to CME IMPACT on the TECTONIC BOUNDARIES within the RED until the YELLOW (backcolored) REGIONS. Read "latency remarks"

NASA/ 20151008/ NASA's Curiosity Rover Team Confirms Ancient Lakes on Mars

A new study from the team behind NASA's Mars Science Laboratory/Curiosity has confirmed that Mars was once, billions of years ago, capable of storing water in lakes over an extended period of time.

Using data from the Curiosity rover, the team has determined that, long ago, water helped deposit sediment into Gale Crater, where the rover landed more than three years ago. The sediment deposited as layers that formed the foundation for Mount Sharp, the mountain found in the middle of the crater today.

"Observations from the rover suggest that a series of long-lived streams and lakes existed at some point between about 3.8 to 3.3 billion years ago, delivering sediment that slowly built up the lower layers of Mount Sharp," said Ashwin Vasavada, Mars Science Laboratory project scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, and co-author of the new Science article to be published Friday, Oct. 9.

The findings build upon previous work that suggested there were ancient lakes on Mars, and add to the unfolding story of a wet Mars, both past and present. Last month, NASA scientists confirmedcurrent water flows on Mars.

SPECIAL REPORTS: (MORE)FREAKY MARS IMAGES/ by NASA/ Curiosity find more in previous month`s archive

A group of youtube people are just waiting for the next super high resolution image the rover sends home, most people as obviously also the NASA staff does oftenly not take much notice of. Curiosity`s images have such a high resolution that you can search and magnify on them each detail and its just incredible what people find on these images:

Just watch the video( right side): I just can`t prove whether the "vehicle" oin this photo might be a a fake!>

Beside the jokes made upon these discoveries like the video with " the green frog" that survived on Mars after its water channels had dried out, some of these dicoveries just knocked me out of my shoes. Best source for those images on youtube is the channel what`s up in the sky.

However: Its meanwhile in all news and obviously noone could approve yet , that those images would have been faked with an photo editing software!

for longer time I have not updated myself on the latest of NASA curiosity rover Mars mission. Now I found some articles with some indeed strange images Curiosity sent to Earth your can try to find more on NASA jpl.(officially NASA seems not to be so interested...)
