According to NASA, this 24th. 11 year sun spot cycle has probably a " twin peak"- the second in 2015. This project therefore will be prolongued.

- activities and major events-

AUGUST 2017

note: as the solar sun spot activity is decreasing now, less major events are expected at least in the next years. (next cycle minimum expected in 2019)

.Therefor, this project is also limited now to basic updates. In July 2014 I decided to update this page only after significant event and changes and to turn this page into an monthly page that will cover significant events and can be archived then in that form.

( see " NASA earth observatory / land surface temperature anomalies above). The temperature anomalies on the Northern hemisphere became more intensive in February 2015 , with Hudson Bayas in the past years still representing the coldest area and with temperatures in Sibiria in Russia exceeeding those in central and Southern Europe. Part of this anomalies are created by solar SEPs . But scientists also noted an increased shifting of the magnetic poles. Noting the last available report it seems however unlikely, that the Northern magnetic pole shifts towards Siberia as this official report claimed. Its rather likely or seems so, that it has already mainly shifted into Hudson |Bay * where we also have the relatively coldest region on the Northern hemisphere since years. The phenomenon of megnetic field shifting is known since the 60th and was since then observed by a group of american researchers, whonfirst came to the conclusion that the Northern magnetic field would move with expontial speeed/means first just some centimeters per year , than meters ...( but the official scientist still said, that those fluctuations would be quite normal

euronews/ 20170825: Search resumed for eight missing hikers in Bondo, Switzerland

The search is back on for eight hikers still missing after a massive landslide in Bondo, Switzerland, on Wednesday. The rescue had been called off overnight for security reasons.

Around a hundred rescuers are using dogs, infra-red and machines to detect waves from mobile telephones to try to locate an Austrian couple and six German and Swiss mountaineers.

Jeff Masters/ wunderground/ 20170825: Hurricane Harvey Strengthens to 110 mph Winds; Catastrophic Flooding Likely in Texas

Hurricane Harvey is poised to deliver a catastrophic flooding blow to Texas after putting on an impressive round of rapid deepening Friday morning that brought the storm to the verge of Category 3 strength. ... An Air Force hurricane hunter aircraft in the storm this morning was continuing to see falling pressures, with the 8 am CDT eye penetration recording a 949 mb pressure. The aircraft also observed evidence that an eyewall replacement cycle was beginning. In this situation, the inner eyewall would collapse and be replaced by a new eyewall with a larger diameter, which would likely slow down or end Harvey’s intensification phase. Harvey is a very dangerous hurricane with extreme winds, storm surge, and rainfall. If you live in Texas, please heed the advice of local emergency management officials, and get out immediately if you live in an evacuation zone. Heavy rain squalls and strong wind gusts are already affecting the Texas coast, and tropical storm-force winds will begin affecting portions of the coast late Friday morning or early Friday afternoon, making evacuation difficult.

The Chinese government fears hundreds of people have been killed and injured in the southwestern province of Sichuan after the area was struck by a 6.5-magnitude earthquake. The tremor’s epicenter was some distance underground and thus was not as severe as the shock that hit the earthquake-prone area in 2008, which claimed 70,000 lives.

this section also refers to quake activities those typically occure since 2011 in a radius of 100- 200 km around the eifel volcano field, while the region in between stays rather calm. This typically indicates the possibiltiy of hot magma with in the area in between that radius where NO Seimic quakes occure .- Hot magma makes no seismic effects but causes tensions and seismic quakes just on its bondaries where it meets with colder rock formations. There are also regular microquakes along the river Rhine, thos are not respected here.

volcano- discovery/ 20170802: Sinabung volcano (Sumatra, Indonesia): eruption continues, moderately large pyroclastic flow this morning

The volcano continues to be very active. A moderately large pyroclastic flow occurred this morning at 10:04 local time, as a portion of the viscous lava dome accumulating in the summit broke off. The flow reached approx. 3 km length on the southern slope of the volcano, inside the already devastated and evacuated zone around Sinabung. The associated ash plume rose to about 18,000 ft (5.4 km) altitude....read more..

vulkane ;.net/ newsblog (only in german) 20170822: Italien: Erdbeben M 4,2 mit Todesopfer

HOT SPOT MONITORING

selected hot spots for monitoring SEP effects

LATEST NEWS:

20160519: with decreasing SEP actvity and effects, the global synchronously elevated activity at the selected monitored spots has significantly decreased, but seems not to be over yet. The global magma intrusion along with the strong SEP events of the last 11 year solar sun spot maximum 2012/ 13 continuing until 2015 has synchronously decreased or stopped at the same time but the magma in the related volcano systems is still hot. THis magma cannot flow back into the earth mantle, but atleast ciobntraction processes while colling down can lead to particular structure collapses.I have not the experience that I can predict further behaviors. There were only three minor SEPs events this year (the least one just occured was on May 17- 2016 but weas only short and did with less than 1 pfu.not reach threshold and may NOT have all heat effects in the earth mantle, that no major reaction from hot spots seesm to be expectablebut but at least cause an effective electron accumulation with typical climatical effects( see below)

MAJOR SOLAR ACTIVITIES IN 2017:

^ Highlights: Five Years Viewing the Sun by SDO/NASA

20170714/ after 03 UTC: The first major proton event since 1014. The source of the event likely was AR 23655 which was increasingly active over the past days and weeks.

warming effects of incoming protons on earth mantle may lead to higher magmatic intrusion/ activities volcanic hot spots in the eastern and central pacific such as Hawaii. Rather nothing to worry about but with the low activity level in the last years the effects of the event might become unusual strong.

NASA/Stereo Ahead COR 2 Telescope: SOlar gases heated up by the proton emission ( The solar event started some earlier than 1: 54 UTC on 20170714: GOES Proton flux into earth orbit and GM field: NASA D_RAP/: Impact of protons from solar protons event / 20170714 on geomagnetic poles: SDO/ 20170714/ 02:05 UTC:

<< The solar event started some earlier than 1: 54 UTC on 20170714. The center of the explosion- AR 23655 was not on the solar meridian, so protons emitted towards the earth are slown down by solor coronal gases - >> First protons (see GOES protons flux) on earth arrived about 1 hour later with about 1/ 7 of the speed of light, resp. with about 41.666 km/ second (150.000.000 km : 3600 sec.)
<  another minor proton event was measured on 20170724 after 18 UTC. The source is unknown, satellite transmission form Stereo Ahead was interrupted at that time . The only availabe image of the event shows an unknown external probable source (Venus?) .This second SEP of July 2017 is NOT expected to become GOEACTIVE

ACCUMULATING SEPS!

^NASA D-RAP/ current real time image : global heat absorption after SEPS and x ray burst (example) ^NASA DRAP AFTER STRONGER PROTON EVENT (20140108 with > 10 MeV Protons > 100 pfu.)
SECONDARY REGIONS : 1-2 < ESTIMATED EFFECT INTENSITY accumulating SEPs can create rising heat within the Earth mantle that leads to strong magmatic /volcanic events

how to interprate NASA D-RAP :

solar particles from SPEs (=solar proton events) impact always along the geomagnetic field lines towards and through the poles Protons always through the Southern pole, where their high cinetic energy is transformed into heat by friction:/ discoloration in this map then goes from green (=low heat)to red (=high heat) absorption.

Major solar x ray outbursts such as after major solar flares-if these are associated with CMEs (coronal mass ejections) always impact in the equatorial regions and cause discolorations on this map mainly in the spectrum from green to blue.

ABOUT SEPs:
LAST MAJOR PROTON IMPACT (PHASE I) ELECTRON ACCUMULATION (PHASE II) FINAL DISCHARGE (PHASE III) :
GEOPHYSICAL EFFECTS: GEOPHYSICAL EFFECTS: GEOPHYSICAL EFFECTS:
SOLAR ACCELERATED AND EMMITTED PROTONS IMMIGRATE THE GEOMAGNETIC FIELD AND ITS POLAR ORBIT THE PROTONS CREATE AN ADDITIONAL GRAVITY PULL> THE GEOMAGNETIC FIELD ATTRACKTS AN EQUIVALENT OF ENERGETIC ELECTRONS FROM THE SOLAR MAGNETIC FIELTO NEUTRALISE THIS + CHARGE AFTER THE PROTONS NOW ALSO ELECTRONS HAVE LOST THEIR CINETIC ENERGY THROUGH HEAT FRICTION. THE ACCUMULATION COLLAPSES THE EARTH MANTLE - PREVIOUSLY HEATED UP BY THE PROTON IMPACT and ELECTRON EFFECTS.- COOLS DOWN AND CONTRACTS AGAIN.
HEAT EFFECTS ON EARTH CORE AND MANTLE: VOLCANIC ACTIVITIES / MAINLY ON HOT SPOTS( SOUTH POLAR TEMPERATURE ANOMALIES (-) TORNADOES, THUNDERSTORMS, VOLCANIC SURFACE ACTIVITIES TEMPERATURE ANOMALIES (m. northern Hemisphere) > MAJOR AND potential CATASTROPHIC SUBDUCTION QUAKES with magnitudes (> M 8 or even > M 9 ) high enough to create a substantial and widespread Tsunami, if quakes occure subseas.
green = effects over yet yellow/ red = currently active orange= pending/ latent hazard

Significant SEPs (Solar proton events) since 2014: ( > 10 Me V protons exceeding 10 pfu.)

SOLAR ACTIVITY IN 2017:

OTHER NEWS / SOLAR SYSTEM:

NASA JPL/ 20170613: Five Years of Curiosity on Mars > (ESA, 20170801:GRAVITY WAVES DETECTED IN SUN'S INTERIOR REVEAL RAPIDLY ROTATING CORE
Original air date: July 13, 2017 Nearly five years after its celebrated arrival at Mars, the Curiosity rover continues to reveal Mars as a once-habitable planet. Early in the planet’s history, generations of streams and lakes created the landforms that Curiosity explores today. The rover currently is climbing through the foothills of Mount Sharp, a 3-mile-high mountain formed from sediment brought in by water and wind. This talk will cover the latest findings from the mission, the challenges of exploration with an aging robot, and what lies ahead. Speakers:
James K. Erickson, Mars Science Laboratory Project Manager, JPL
Ashwin R. Vasavada, Mars Science Laboratory Project Scientist, JPL

Was wirklich interessant ist scheint man eher zurückzuhalten.

SPECIAL REPORTS: (MORE)FREAKY MARS IMAGES/ by NASA/ Curiosity find more in previous month`s archive

A group of youtube people are just waiting for the next super high resolution image the rover sends home, most people as obviously also the NASA staff does oftenly not take much notice of. Curiosity`s images have such a high resolution that you can search and magnify on them each detail and its just incredible what people find on these images:

Just watch the video( right side): I just can`t prove whether the "vehicle" oin this photo might be a a fake!>

Beside the jokes made upon these discoveries like the video with " the green frog" that survived on Mars after its water channels had dried out, some of these dicoveries just knocked me out of my shoes. Best source for those images on youtube is the channel what`s up in the sky.

However: Its meanwhile in all news and obviously noone could approve yet , that those images would have been faked with an photo editing software!

for longer time I have not updated myself on the latest of NASA curiosity rover Mars mission. Now I found some articles with some indeed strange images Curiosity sent to Earth

your can try to find more on NASA jpl.(officially NASA seems not to be so interested...)
